Papers, printing & finishing details

Design Guide

Everything you can choose for your wedding stationery, in one place. Look through it before your consultation to see what is possible, then we shape the details together.

The process

How an order comes together

01

Choose a starting point

Begin with one of our semi-custom suites and adapt it, or ask for a fully custom design drawn for your wedding alone.

02

Consultation

We talk through your date, your guest count, the pieces you need and the feel of your day, then recommend paper, printing and details to suit.

03

Proofs

You receive digital proofs of every piece. Read them closely, send your changes, and approve each one when it is exactly right.

04

Printing & finishing

Your suite is printed on Gmund paper, finished by hand with any seals, ribbon or liners, and delivered to you ready to send.

Timelines depend on your suite and finishes. We confirm yours at your consultation, so include your wedding date when you inquire.

Inspiration

Colours, papers and shapes, mixed

Paper

Printed on Gmund paper

Every suite is printed on paper from Gmund, a Bavarian paper mill with almost 200 years of papermaking behind it. Their papers are made from renewable raw materials and chosen for how they feel in the hand.

Gmund Colors Matt · 120, 200 & 300 g/m²

Smooth card

A clean, smooth card in a wide range of colours, from soft ivory to deep, saturated shades. The most versatile paper, and it works with every printing method.

Best for: invitations, details cards, menus

Gmund Cotton

Cotton paper

Soft, thick and gently textured. Cotton takes letterpress and foil beautifully, so the lettering sits deep in the paper.

Best for: letterpress and foil invitations

Gmund Colors Transparent

Vellum

Translucent paper for wraps, overlays and bands. The card underneath shows through softly, like a veil.

Best for: wraps, overlays, belly bands

Torn-edge finish

Deckled edges

A soft, torn edge in place of a clean cut, for a relaxed, handmade feel.

Best for: invitations and save the dates

Colours on screen never quite match paper. We help you choose yours at your consultation.

Printing

Four ways to print

Flat & full colour

Digital printing

Crisp printing in any colour, including full-colour artwork, maps and photos. The most flexible method, and the most affordable.

Best for: colourful designs, maps, photos

Pressed into the paper

Letterpress

Each line is pressed into the paper, leaving lettering you can feel with your fingertips. Quiet, tactile and timeless.

Best for: cotton paper, minimal designs

Heat-pressed metallic

Foil pressing

Metallic foil pressed into the paper with heat, in gold, silver, copper or a colour. It catches the light as the card moves.

Best for: names, monograms, borders

Bright on dark

White ink

Clean white printing on deep-coloured card and on vellum, where ordinary ink would disappear.

Best for: dark paper, vellum wraps

Finishing

The details that finish a suite

Envelopes & wraps

Wax seals

Close an envelope or a vellum wrap with a seal, plain or pressed with your monogram.

Tied by hand

Ribbon

Silk or satin ribbon to hold a suite together, in a colour matched to your palette.

Inside the envelope

Envelope liners

A printed or patterned liner, the first thing your guests see when they open the envelope.

Beyond the rectangle

Custom shapes

Arched, round and rounded-corner cards, for a softer outline next to classic cards.
